Job Description

This position directly supervises assigned sales staff, merchandisers and cooler service staff including training, planning, informing (ex. distributing programs, samples, sell sheets, etc.) and directing work, appraising performance, assigning, point-of-sale materials, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems through superior leadership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Develops, trains, and directs Sales Representatives to achieve sales goals and placement objectives to ensure that company standards are met.
  • May conduct strategic sales negotiations with key accounts.
  • Sets up schedules and appointments to obtain new accounts and to service existing accounts along with the Sales Representatives.
  • Survey market area, quotes, and orders to detect business trends and opportunities for new products or new applications for existing products.
  • May assist in the development of sales forecasts and scheduling of products.
  • Plans for activities by forecasting conditions, defining objectives and strategies, and securing resources.
  • Controls and manages sales performance by measuring and reporting results, evaluating and corrective performance, and administering policies and procedures.
  • Organized activities by structuring the territories, delegating work, and staffing positions.
  • Provides leadership in making decisions, developing personnel, communicating with, and motivating staff.
  • Plans and executes sales and promotional activities that effectively counter competitive trends by establishing goals for individual territories and distribution standards for individual brands.
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products for the competition.
  • conducts weekly sales meetings for the purpose of disseminating supplier information, product, and sales training to obtain feedback on effectiveness, efficiency, and relevance of the sales and promotional activities.
  • Prepares and maintains required paperwork, reports, and records.
  • Manages selling expenses to authorized levels.
  • Manages territory when a Sales Representative is on vacation.
  • Prepares and executes appropriate promotions.



Merchandising Supervision



  • This position is responsible for the supervision and training of assigned Merchandisers. This position works under minimal to direct supervision to ensure accurate and timely work is being performed to best meet the needs of the customers and the departmental goals for the overall company goals. Helps to ensure a safe and clean work environment through following the company's safety and proper housecleaning policies and procedures.
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Participates and receives on-the-job training related to Odom procedures regarding the Merchandiser and Sales Representative job duties.
  • Overseas assigned merchandising team to ensure merchandising procedures and standards are being executed to the company standards and provide feedback to management regarding team.
  • Manage labor hours within the merchandising department to keep them under or at budget levels.
  • Manage all merchandising duties to ensure our products are stocked properly, have the proper price point, are rotated in a timely manner, all sets and displays are to Odom standards, all display equipment and shelves are clean, and breakage is handled in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and make recommendations regarding sales, delivery, and merchandising service levels in the retail marketplace.
  • Provide assistance with customer calls, complaints, and issues in a timely manner.
  • Work with merchandising team on a continual basis to train, support, and evaluate needs.
  • Performs essential job duties all on time, efficiently, accurately, safely, and in a time sensitive manner due to customer locations requesting that merchandising not be performed during "peak" hours of operations.
  • Help to ensure a safe and clean working area during shift by discarding of trash and empty boxes prior to leaving each customer account.
  • Adheres to The Odom Corporation professional dress and appearance policy at all times.


Cooler Service Supervision



  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Writes a weekly schedule for the Cooler Service Department.
  • Completes performance reviews for the Cooler Service Department.
  • Coordinates the repair and maintenance of all soda coolers, fountains and vending equipment.
  • Reviews and approvals of all parts invoices with the proper GL code.
  • Train and coach new cooler service employees on the repair and maintenance of all soda coolers, fountains and vending equipment.
  • Write up Corrective Action Notices when necessary.
  • Interview & hire new staff members to fill vacant or budgeted positions in the Cooler Service Department.
  • Monitors, priorities and assigns all service calls listed on Share Point.
  • Responsible for making sure the entire cooler service fleet is compliant with all D.O.T. and OSHA safety standards



Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)preferred; one to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Must have valid driver's license, good driving record, proof of auto insurance (SR-22 is not acceptable), and own means of reliable transportation.
  • Minimum of 5 years beverage sales supervision experience preferred.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be self-motivated, a self-starter, and able to work with little direct supervision.
  • Highly organized, with a strong ability to work quickly and accurately while handling competing priorities.



Physical Demands

  • Use of pallet jacks and hand carts are required to load and unload products for use in customer locations.
  • Frequently lift and/or move 10-25 pounds and occasionally move/push or pull up to 250 pounds (loaded hand cart or pallet).
  • Required to regularly stand, walk, lift product floor to waist, shoulder to overhead, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
