The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is seeking an Associate Dean for Enrollment Management and Student Services who will serve as the chief enrollment management officer and also provides vision and oversight to Student Affairs, Admissions, Student Financial Aid, Records, Academic Advising, Career Services and Student Success. Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean provides strategic leadership in advancing the School of Nursing's (SON) recruitment, retention, and enrollment goals. As a member of the Dean's senior leadership team, the successful Associate Dean will be an experienced leader in strategic enrollment management and student services and work collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Development and Alumni Relations, and Financial Services to support the educational and co-curricular needs of students.

This role will contribute to JHSON's strategic objectives and impact by providing leadership with enrollment predictions that determine financial resources, creating innovative ways to attract prospective students, and providing outstanding student services to retain students furthering the pipeline of outstanding nurses.

The Team

The Associate Dean oversees approximately ~$3.7M in annual budget. The Associate Dean currently has eight direct reports and oversees 28 total full-time team members.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Strategically lead an effective enrollment management and Student Services team for SON.
  • Work with SON leadership in implementation of the Strategic Plan and other initiatives for enrollment management and student success.
  • Serve as a member of school's executive leadership team.
  • Inform Dean and leadership team of trends and issues related to Admissions, Student Services, Student Financial Services, Records, Advising, and Career Services
  • Membership on multiple University and School of Nursing committees

Enrollment Management & Growth

  • Implement and utilize a data-informed, comprehensive approach to project and build enrollment.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications the marketing of academic programs to prospective students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic deans to identify, create and promote new initiatives (academic program, geographic outreach, etc.)
  • Manage the identification and development of articulation agreements with academic institutions and health care providers.
  • Oversee new program implementation for Enrollment Management and Student Services teams.
  • Oversee Online Prerequisites for Health Professions marketing, recruitment, registration processes and collect data on profitability.

Student Financial Strategy

  • Strategically leverage student financial aid.
  • Establish funding models and coordinate funding to align with school's budget and goals.

Student Services, Success, and Well-being

  • Provide leadership and oversight for student services offices and staff that promotes and encourages student success.
  • Foster an environment of pluralism that enhances student success.
  • Collaborate with University services including Mental and Primary Health Services, Student Disability Services, International Services, SOURCE, Student Health Insurance, etc. to best serve the needs of SON students.
  • Serve as a liaison with JHMI and JHU Security Departments in matters relating to student safety.

Compliance, Policy & Integrity

  • Ensure compliance of all federal, state, and university statutes; regulations; and policies as they relate to admissions, registration, financial aid, student disabilities, adjudication of student issues, etc.
  • Coordinate JHSON policies with Academic Affairs. Serve as a resource to the school.
  • Supervise implementation and provide oversight for Academic Integrity and Professionalism policies, coordinate activities of ethics board trainings and hearings.

Assessment, Data & Reporting

  • Update, promote, analyze and disseminate annual SON Student Experience Survey and report.
  • Oversee data gathering for EMSS areas for surveys, grants, and philanthropic submissions.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Oversee team's annual budgets ensuring detailed accounting consistent with School and University policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Financial Services to estimate future enrollments, revenue, and program growth and sustainability.


Minimum Qualifications
    • Master's Degree or higher in required in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Business, Public Administration, or other related field
    • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in enrollment management and student services.
    • Successful experience in leadership of multi-functional teams, staff supervision and leadership development.
    • Track record of developing and executing data-informed enrollment strategies that drive recruitment, retention, and enrollment growth across multiple academic programs (including online/hybrid programs).
    • Demonstrated success leveraging student financial aid strategically to meet access, affordability, and enrollment objectives; strong knowledge of financial aid policies and practices.
    • Experience overseeing student services operations that support student success and well-being, including collaboration with campus health, disability, international services, and security.
    • Strong analytical skills with experience in assessment, survey design/use, data reporting, and outcomes measurement to inform decision-making and improve services.
    • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, foster an inclusive environment, and represent the school on committees and in external partnerships.
    • Experience in budget planning and fiscal management for complex units, with accountability for multi-department budgets and short/long-range strategic planning
    • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaboration as part of a senior leadership team; success working cross-functionally with academic affairs, marketing/communications, finance, and development/alumni relations.

    • Proven ability to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to admissions, financial aid, records/FERPA, student conduct/academic integrity, disabilities/ADA, and related areas.
    • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in a health professions or nursing school environment; familiarity with clinical affiliations, articulation agreements, and pathways with health systems and academic partners.
    • Success building and managing articulation agreements and transfer pathways with academic institutions and healthcare providers, including market development and geographic outreach.
    • Demonstrated partnership with marketing/communications to build brand awareness and execute integrated recruitment campaigns; experience with CRM and marketing automation tools.
    • Expertise with student information systems, CRMs, and analytics/reporting platforms (e.g., Slate, Workday/Student, PeopleSoft, Banner, Tableau, Power BI) and data governance best practices.
    • Experience leading academic integrity/professionalism processes, ethics board trainings/hearings, and student adjudication frameworks.
    • Record of advancing initiatives improve student outcomes, student experience and belonging, and campus climate among diverse student bodies.
    • Demonstrate understanding and coordination with academic administration and program leadership, faculty and staff.
    • Experience contributing to grants, philanthropic submissions, and institutional surveys (e.g., development of data and narratives for external reporting).
    • Demonstrated success managing change and continuous improvement initiatives within complex, decentralized institutions.
