Serving private equity groups and corporations, the team offers buy-side and sell-side due diligence, tax due diligence, and transaction structuring-ensuring clients are well-informed and positioned for successful outcomes. What You Will Do: Advising clients on enhancing state and local tax opportunities and managing state and local tax risk associated with mergers and acquisitions, including post-acquisition actions Analyzing state and local tax risks of target companies using tax returns, accounting information, and interviews with management Preparing and reviewing reports correlating state and local tax due diligence and tax structuring findings. Identifying issues affecting purchase price, deal structure, or deal termination Working closely with executives, investment bankers, private equity and corporate clients, attorneys, or other stakeholders Leading, supervising, recruiting, and training team members providing state and local transaction services to clients Managing multiple concurrent engagements Working alongside other Forvis Mazars team members to exceed client expectations Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university or CPA eligible Five (5) years or more of state and local tax experience with a large public accounting or consulting firm with at least two (2) years or more of experience in Transaction Services / M&A Tax Strong current knowledge in state and local income, franchise and indirect tax, mergers and acquisitions, and transaction services Proficiency with Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and PowerPoint Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications JD or master's degree in taxation preferred CPA license or admission to state bar preferred Extensive analytical and project management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Experience with corporate and flow-through concepts Ability to develop relationships with both team members and external clients #LI-CHI #LI-JT1 Illinois Wage Transparency Pursuant to Illinois' Equal Pay Act, the salary range displayed is for the Illinois market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for time and half pay for employees that work over 40 hours in a workweek.
