About the Role

The Staff Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of financial information including preparation of detailed accounting analyses and reconciliations. The position supports the financial statement close cycle and other day-to-day accounting processes all while ensuring timely reporting and compliance with relevant procedures and controls.

Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant will work with all aspects of the month-end close, including;

  • Prepare journal entries, including, but not limited to:
  1. Cash
  2. Accruals
  3. Fixed assets
  4. Intangibles
  5. Inventory
  6. Leases
  7. Intercompany accounting
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, inventory, AP and AR
  • Own US bank account reconciliation month over month and provide monthly reporting to Accounting Manager
  • Track and manage assigned responsibilities within the month-end close checklist
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Prepare daily cash reconciliation and identification of deposits and monitor return items
  • Support treasury activities including wire processing and cash management
  • Assist with inventory roll forward, reserve analysis, and excess/obsolete inventory review
  • Support tax-related matters, including assistance with state tax notices
  • Assist with preparation of audit schedules and respond to internal and external auditor requests
  • Serve as backup for Sr. AP Expense Specialist role
  • Perform ad-hoc analytical projects as required
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments

Required Qualification & Skills

  • B.S. in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 2-3+ years of experience in accounting that includes involvement in general accounting, monthly closings, and monthly account reconciliations
  • General Ledger system knowledge (Microsoft D365 or Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred)
  • Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills through independent work and takes initiative to take the next step and see projects through start to finish
  • Proactively organized and with strong attention to detail
  • Continually looks to improve and promote quality and accuracy of output via thoroughness and performing self-check of work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work on team projects as needed while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet tight deadlines while ensuring data integrity
  • Strong computer skills in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.), Word and other Office programs
