Job Description

2nd Shift NDT Technician - X-Ray Operator (Level I)
Location: Mentor, Ohio
Shift: 2nd Shift, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Department: 690 - Reports directly to Department Supervisor

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented NDT Technician - X-Ray Operator (Level I) to join our 2nd shift team in Mentor. In this role, you will test parts for defects and deviations from specifications using X-Ray equipment and precision measuring instruments. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong attention to quality and safety, able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform X-Ray inspection and testing of parts per applicable specifications.

  • Conduct system capability checks and maintain proper documentation.

  • Handle hazardous waste in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and company policy.

  • Utilize manuals, source books, and practical theory to support inspection techniques.

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area, following all safety rules.

  • Meet departmental efficiency and quality standards.

  • Move inventory and manage X-Ray film stock, including boxing and storage of exposed film.

  • Record all work performed accurately, including operational codes and number routing card sequence.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the department supervisor or Level III NDT Technician.

  • Maintain a professional and positive work atmosphere with coworkers, supervisors, clients, and customers.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience as an operator; casting experience is a plus.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience may substitute.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and be accountable for both quality and quantity.

  • Strong attendance record and history of dependability.

  • Ability to work independently while using a team approach for problem-solving.

  • Motivated self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Comfortable handling high-stress situations and tight deadlines.

  • Must pass visual acuity exam and be willing to study for Level I certification.
