About the Role

Gain hands on tax experience as a Summer Intern in Matson's Tax Department. The Intern rate of pay is $25/hour. This position requires the successful candidate to be in-office at our Walnut Creek Corporate office at least 3 days per week.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in preparation of sales and use tax returns, business license renewal, and property tax returns.
  • Assist with organization of the shared tax folder.
  • Maintain monthly tax calendars & account reconciliations schedules.
  • Assist with tax process improvement projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax provision and compliance work papers.
  • Liaise between tax department and various other departments.
  • Support month-end close process and quarterly tax provision process.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and analysis, as needed.

You have these skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.

And these qualifications:

  • Junior or Senior in active pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Prior completion of basic accounting/tax courses required.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The hourly rate is posted for this position in California.
