The Senior Tax Analyst prepares complex federal and multi-state income tax returns, moderately complex tax calculations, analysis, and research using full knowledge of industry practices. Assists with analysis and maintenance of tax capital additions and retirements and income tax accounting. Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Researches a variety of tax issues and prepares formal tax memorandums. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters. Minimum Requirements
Major Accountabilities
1) Ensure timely and accurate filing of income tax returns, including preparation and review of returns. 2) Assists with analysis and maintenance of tax capital additions and retirements. 3) Successfully and efficiently operate tax software programs and assists in identifying continuous improvement opportunities. 4) Research and resolve moderately complex federal and state income tax issues. 5) Respond to inquiries from other APS and affiliate departments in a timely and accurate manner. 6) Assists with audits by federal, state and local tax authorities, as assigned. Draft responses to tax authorities. 7) Help reduce company tax liabilities through innovative tax planning. This includes examining company practices and procedures and recommending tax-saving changes. 8) Assist in training tax analysts. 9) Review contracts and assist in due diligence for new ventures and expansion projects and work with outside counsel in tax matters affecting Pinnacle West and subsidiaries. 10) Assist in forecasting and budgeting the company's future income tax expenses. 11) Assist with income tax accounting processes and calculation of current year tax accruals. 12) Serve as a liaison in tax related projects. Hybrid:Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person). In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.
