Summary:

St. Louis CITY SC is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Event Operations to lead event execution and operational excellence at Energizer Park and across the Downtown West District.

This role is responsible for delivering best-in-class event operations for all CITY SC and CITY2 matches while playing a key role in the planning and execution of third-party events, corporate rentals, private events, community activations, and other special events. The Director will work closely with the Events team to operationalize revenue-generating opportunities and ensure seamless event delivery from advance planning through post-event reporting.

The position reports to the Senior Director, Operations and serves as a senior operational leader within the venue.



Key Responsibilities


Event & Match Operations

Lead planning and execution of MLS, MLS Next Pro, friendlies, and major stadium events.

Oversee operational logistics including staffing, credentialing, security coordination, back-of-house activity, field conversions, and load-in/load-out.

Serve as primary operations liaison to MLS and MLSNP representatives to ensure compliance with all league standards.

Oversee staffing plans, credentialing, field conversions, and load-in/load-out execution.

Prepare and submit required league and event reports.

Special Events & Revenue Programming

Partner with the Events team to support third-party events, corporate rentals, and private events.

Evaluate operational feasibility during event bidding and contract stages.

Develop scalable operational plans to support diverse event layouts and capacities.

Support event settlement processes and post-event evaluations.

Leadership & Budget Oversight

Lead and develop Event Operations staff to ensure consistent execution standards.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Guest Experience, Security, Grounds, Facilities, and other departments.

Assist in developing and managing the Operations Department budget, including labor and event expenses.

Facility & Safety

Ensure compliance with ICS and crowd management standards.

Maintain safe, inspection-ready facilities across Energizer Park and related venues.

Partner with internal teams and local authorities to uphold safety protocols.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Sports Management, Venue Management, or related field.

Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in stadium or large-scale venue operations, including supervisory responsibility.

Experience executing professional sporting events and non-matchday events (concerts, private events, festivals, etc.)
