Lafayette Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Telecommunications Cybersecurity Engineer to support impactful projects for our federal clients, with a focus on providing cybersecurity-related technical and operational expertise to support oversight of the development, deployment, and operation of a mobile broadband network comprised of Long-Term Evolution (LTE), 4th Generation (4G), and 5th Generation (5G) technologies. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels in technical analysis and assessment to support oversight, federal reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide cybersecurity-related technical and operational expertise to support oversight of the development, deployment, and operation of a mobile broadband network comprised of Long-Term Evolution (LTE), 4th Generation (4G), and 5th Generation (5G) technologies.
- Provide cybersecurity-related support for mobile wireless network architecture critical design reviews, network compliance assessments, network risk assessments, network security control assessments and verifying and validating mobile wireless network cybersecurity solutions and implementation.
- Review mobile telecommunication coverage maps and other related documentation/statistics provided to determine the accuracy of coverage provided.
- Perform various types of technical cybersecurity analyses for 3GPP 4G LTE, 5G, and future industry standard networks, including analysis on network deployment, performance, and usage data.
- Leverage industry tools to enable assessment of risk and compliance against various controls such as NIST, ISO, and 3GPP.
- Review data to identify cybersecurity trends within National Public Safety Broadband Network's (NPSBN) various ecosystems.
- Review product integration and service activation test data and make recommendations for cybersecurity improvements.
- Conduct various types of cybersecurity analyses on 4G LTE and 5G data, including analyses on network deployment, performance, and usage data to inform the government of issues which merit further review by the government or may result in potential opportunities for cybersecurity improvement.
- Review wireless technology and network metrics data and provide recommendations for project and program improvement.
- Develop white papers, research-based reports, and other technical analyses addressing various complex and/or technical issues to support informed decision making that results in the advancement of the mission (e.g., cybersecurity compliance assessments, cybersecurity risk assessments, cybersecurity control assessments, organizational and system risk assessments, mitigation plan assessments, cybersecurity research).
- Provide summarized results of analyses and develop reports to summarize data, as required.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Security, Computer Science, or other relevant discipline
- 9+ years of experience in Information Security, with substantial knowledge of wireless telecommunications and broadband networks to include, but not limited to experience with LTE, 4G and 5G protocols as well as related system architectures
- Experience in security architecture, security implementation, threat assessment, vulnerability assessment, risk assessment, network security, and security control evaluation
- Substantial knowledge of security control assessment methodologies and tools and related risk management functions
- Understanding of cloud computing technologies
- Experience in analyzing results from vulnerability scanning tools, supporting cyber security site visits and assessments to inspect and verify information security reports, plans, and controls

Location: Hybrid (Reston, VA); Remote
Salary Range: $130,000-150,000

New employees are not usually hired at the top of the estimated salary range and salary decisions depend on the circumstances and factors for each case.
