Position Summary:
The Boston Children's Hospital Dermatology Program provides care for children and adolescents with all forms of congenital and acquired disorders of the skin, nails, hair, and mucous membranes. As a Division Manager II, you will oversee the administrative and financial operations of Dermatology, planning, staffing, monitoring, and problem-solving within this division in cooperation with other hospital personnel, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all division administrative staff. Interview, hire, orient, train, and discipline staff as necessary. Organize work and work processes. Give annual performance appraisals and determine amount of merit increase, ensuring adherence to CHB Human Resources guidelines.
- Supervise processing of faculty and fellow hospital and medical school appointment applications. Work with appropriate departmental and hospital staff to ensure accurate and timely submissions. Ensure compliance with all applicable policies.
- Prepare and monitor research, training grant, foundation, and general fund budgets. Develop capital budget in consultation with chief and clinical chief for submission to the hospital.
- Develop recording and bookkeeping procedures for all funds. Perform reconciliation of monthly reports and follow up with faculty and/or staff as warranted. Authorize all expenditures utilizing funds under their control.
- Assist in the production of grant submissions in consultation with principal investigators. Partner with funding agencies and research administration to ensure that the policies of the awarding agencies and Hospital/Research Administration are followed.
- Perform administrative functions for chief. Serve as liaison to various Hospital departments, and other internal entities, division faculty and staff, as well as external professional organizations and regulatory agencies. Prepare division summary for Department of Medicine (DoM) Annual Report.
- Work with the Chief, Associate Chief, or other staff to create, implement, and monitor the division's strategic and marketing plan.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of experience required.
- 8 years of experience preferred.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to solve complex problems in the areas of clinical operations, financial management, marketing and planning, personnel management and information systems.
- Ability to effectively manage the employees within assigned unit/department and to persuade and negotiate with peer level managers on issues and programs that impact assigned unit/department.
- Effectively dealing with conflicting views or issues and mediating fair and workable solutions.
The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
