This is a full-time and hybrid position based in Culver City, CA. 1-2 days onsite per week required, with flexibility for business needs.

The pay for this position is $28.90-$33.23 hourly.

Summary

As a Junior Staff Accountant, you will support the Finance team with day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities while ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. You will prepare and process daily transactions, maintain schedules, and complete account reconciliations to ensure all general ledger accounts are accurate, properly maintained, and timely reported.

Primary Duties



  • Assists accounting data processing, including cash receipts and deposit recording, invoice/statement review, coding, maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation.
  • Prepares journal entries and assists Accounting Supervisor and/or Controller for month and year-end GL close, and audit; prepares analytical financial reports for managerial needs.
  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts, such accrued liabilities, reserves, bank accounts, etc.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information.
  • Follows established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Provides diverse, complex, confidential administrative support and assistance to appropriate finance manager (Accounting Supervisor and/or Controller).
  • Assists with ad hoc financial analyses and special projects and performs other accounting-related duties as assigned.
  • Supports accounting system transitions or upgrades as needed.


Position Requirements



  • A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in accounting or general ledger experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiencies: Excel (required experience with formulas and functions), Word, Outlook, Teams and Zoom.
  • Experience with an Accounting ERP System. NetSuite strongly preferred but not required.
  • A working knowledge of accounting, IRS regulations and other legal tax rules
  • Accurate math skills.
  • Ability to calculate accurately and efficiently, including ten-key skills by touch.
  • Strong personal computer skills including preparation of complex Excel spreadsheets, routine word processing and general accounting software.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, experience and good judgment to make accounting-related decisions.
  • A commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Current California drivers' license, car insurance, and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier, if required by job duties.
