Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated individual interested in tumor biology and endocrine cancer research. The project involves adrenal cancer which is a deadly disease with limited treatment options. In addition, another project focuses on pituitary tumorigenesis. We have developed the first new cell and animal models to use to find new therapies for our patients. The Research Services Laboratory Sciences Senior Professional will be working closely with the members of the Wierman and Kiseljak-Vassiliades lab in molecular and cell biology techniques at the bench, and work with mice implanted with tumor cells derived from patient's tumors and mice tumors.

The individual should have experience in the field of molecular biology and interest in tumor biology. They will be an integral member of the team working to develop new markers for tumor aggressiveness and new treatments for patients with adrenal cancer and other endocrine tumors. The laboratory environment is team-oriented, where motivation and dedication are rewarded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Principal Investigators (PIs) and clinicians to provide laboratory expertise, study oversight, and strategic research support.

  • Conduct diverse laboratory experiments and technical procedures, managing the full testing lifecycle from pre-analytical prep to post-analytical evaluation.

  • Tabulate, analyze, and document research results, maintaining accurate databases and assisting with manuscript preparation and grant application.

  • Manage daily facility readiness, including equipment maintenance, stocking supplies, and ensuring a clean, safe working environment.

  • Oversee the collection, transportation, and preservation of research samples and materials according to established protocols.

  • Ensure strict adherence to laws, regulations, and safety guidelines, including the proper disposal of hazardous laboratory materials.

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and work with leadership to develop recommendations and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Design and implement new laboratory techniques, process flows, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Provide guidance to junior team members and assist in the creation of training manuals and educational materials.

  • Provide necessary animal care related to specific research studies and maintain all required subject-level documentation.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.

    • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Two (2) years professional level research experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.

  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $54,440 - $69,248.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
