About the Job

The Department of Dermatology is seeking a dedicated Dermatology Surgery Research Specialist to support clinical and translational dermatology research projects. This is a fixed-term, non-renewable 1-year program, beginning on July 1, 2026, and concluding on June 30, 2027. The role involves a blend of clinical trial coordination, regulatory management, and scientific writing to advance the field of dermatology.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, screen, and coordinate clinical trial patients, including scheduling study visits, conducting follow-ups, ensuring protocol adherence, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare, draft, and submit IRB applications, amendments, continuing reviews, and other regulatory documents.
  • Write and prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for scientific conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
  • Perform data collection, including chart reviews, extraction of clinical variables, data entry, and maintenance of high-quality, audit-ready datasets.
  • Conduct data analysis using statistical software and generate figures, tables, and results summaries.
  • Assist with clinical photography, imaging documentation, and management of research photo databases.
  • Obtain informed consent when appropriate and maintain accurate documentation of the consent process.
  • Coordinate with study sponsors, CROs, and institutional offices regarding trial logistics, monitoring visits, and documentation needs.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support study design, manuscript preparation, and grant applications.
  • Support clinical and translational dermatology research projects, including maintaining study logs and assisting with lab-based tasks as applicable.
  • Participate in clinics for patient care under the supervision of attending physicians.
  • Participate in research meetings, prepare progress reports, and assist the research team with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • US Medical School student (between Third and Fourth Year) in good academic standing or recent US Medical School Graduate.
  • Interest in pursuing a dermatologic specialty or a career in academic medicine and clinical research with a particular interest in dermatologic research.
  • Moderate experience with bench research during undergrad or medical school (lit reviews, data collection, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience with technical/medical writing.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the United States. The Department is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment Visas for this position.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: Expected annual stipend will be $42,848, adjusted for the next fiscal year, according to University and Medical School guidelines.
