Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing all duties to quality and productivity standards.

Our facility in Orange is a leading global supplier of large stretch formed aircraft skins, hot forming of titanium, superplastic forming, chemical milling, and complex fastened and welded assemblies.

Job Summary

  • Unloads and unpacks incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Packs and loads outgoing shipments.
  • Verifies completeness against shipping documents and assembles orders for shipment.
  • Typical shipping functions include weighing and addressing parcels, crates of merchandise or materials.
  • Prepares postage or making up and attaching bills of lading and keeping records of goods shipped.
  • Fills out reports on shipment shortages and damaged materials.
  • May select route and carrier when not specified by customer.
  • Movement of goods may be incidental to performance of the duties outlined above.
  • Able to resolve most questions/problems referring only the most complex issues to supervisors.
  • Records factors causing goods to be returned.
  • Examines articles for defects and sorts articles according to extent of defect.
  • May, within acceptable parameter, change procedures to meet special cases.
  • Attaches identification data onto boxes.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project
    committees.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Read and understand internal procedures and policies.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate among all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications.
  • Read and understand material inventory tags, skid tags and material receiving documentation.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, and light meter.
  • Awareness of calibration certification of equipment.
  • Must be able to comply with specific safety policies.
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions, and simple software programs with assistance.
  • Critical thinking skills and good decision-making thought processes.

Required Experience and Education

  • H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.

Licenses, Certifications, etc.

  • Ability to acquire forklift license issued by Ducommun

Base Compensation: USD 18.00 - 19.00 Paid Hourly
