This is NOT a "keep the lights on" architecture leader. This is a "define the future state of the enterprise" role!

The Director, Chief Enterprise Architect is the senior-most authority on enterprise architecture within Henry Ford Health (HFH). This role provides strategic leadership to ensure technology investments align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This role drives innovation, interoperability, and digital transformation initiatives to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and data security.

The Chief Enterprise Architect is responsible for establishing and maintaining an enterprise-wide architecture strategic framework used to align organizational business goals with IT infrastructure, systems, and processes. Key domains include:

  • Security Architecture

The position is responsible for identifying, directing, coordinating, evaluating, and reporting on enterprise architecture key performance indicators. The position is also responsible for the development and management of budgets, project prioritization, strategic planning, execution, policies, procedures, and guiding practices.

The Chief Enterprise Architect reports to the VP, Chief Information Privacy and Security Officer. In addition, this position will work in a collaborative effort with IT and business unit leadership to ensure enterprise architecture framework is aligned with policies, processes, applicable laws and regulations. In addition, this position will lead direct and indirect staff development for architecture team members to ensure service culture and equity is maintained.

Provides leadership, vision, managerial oversight, development, implementation, and execution of Henry Ford Health Enterprise Architecture Planning. Maintains policies and processes that enable HFH to establish consistent, efficient, and appropriate controls over departmental services. Sets performance expectations for direct reports and provides constructive performance feedback on a regular basis.

Responsible for communications and reporting of metrics, deliverables, and risks. The primary responsibility will be to continually assess and deliver improvements on strategic alignment between business and IT; reducing or eliminating technical debt; supporting scalability and agility in adapting to change and setting architectural technology standards.

Foster a culture of customer service, disciplined business conduct, and healthy communication. Ensure each team member understands their role, responsibilities, and is accountable for their performance. Allocates resources so timelines, commitments, and service levels from the team are met.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture vision and roadmap aligned with organizational goals and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  2. Lead and govern Enterprise Architecture Steering Committee, Architecture Review Board (ARB), and domain architecture teams.
  3. Identifies opportunities and leads the development of system policies, standards and procedures related to enterprise architecture.
  4. Establish and enforce reference architecture, standards, frameworks, and governance processes.
  5. Develop, acquire, and create architecture and technology controls that effectively satisfy requirements and direct the establishment of periodic control validation.
  6. Govern and lead a high-performing team of architects across domains.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships across technology organizations, the security industry, peer organizations and other entities as necessary to benchmark architecture programs and keep current in best practices.
  8. Optimizes departmental resource use and establishes linkages with other business units within Henry Ford Health in support of departmental goals and processes.
  9. Provides leadership, direction, oversight, development, management and support in accordance with established departmental roadmap and organizational policies and procedures.
  10. Fosters a culture of customer service, disciplined business conduct, and healthy communication.
  11. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations.
  12. Conducts performance reviews for team members and provides coaching and staff performance feedback.
  13. Supports sound fiscal management including budgetary role for proper staffing and expenditures.
  14. Manage strategic relationships with third-party vendors.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Security, Technology, or Communication, etc. required.
  • 10+ years in enterprise architecture or technology strategy roles, with at least five (5) years in leadership.
  • Requires extensive IT architecture knowledge and background to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to the various responsibilities involved.
  • Success in developing and leading enterprise architectural programs in a diverse and complex environment.
  • Exceptional and demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence peers, superiors, and corporate culture.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize regulations, policies and procedures, reports, and legal documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train and lead people, set goals and achieve implementation results for security programs and solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of IT systems and functions, process development, change management, and service and implementation lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
