Responsible for the safety oversight of the construction of water treatment systems. Able to manage and ensure the safety of construction activities for water treatment facilities in accordance with standards established by the customer, Kurita, and relevant U.S. regulations. The Senior EHS Specialist also performs safety related duties for the EHS team as assigned required.

Responsibilities

    Plan, arrange, and coordinate site facilities, safety and health equipment, and temporary installations in strict compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local safety regulations, client requirements, and site rules.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments at the construction site to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide safety training and guidance to workers and contractors as needed.
  • Monitor and document compliance with safety standards and regulations throughout the construction process.
  • Investigate and report safety incidents, near-misses, and hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in construction management meetings to address safety-related topics and communicate client safety requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing site conditions against the project schedule and coordinating with contractors regarding safety matters.
  • Support the collection and consolidation of construction records from contractors as related to safety.
  • Promptly report to management any related safety and health concerns, including near-misses and incidents, and seek guidance as needed. Ensure all safety incidents are documented and investigated according to company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Additional EHS support and other duties assigned by Director, EHS & Quality


Qualifications

Education:

  • Prefer a 4-year degree in safety or a closely related field or a combination of safety certifications and experience

Experience:

  • 5 years of relevant safety experience
  • EHS certification or BS in science or engineering field of study
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • OSHA 510 Certification for Construction

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of best safety practices for production environments
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated experience in timely processing of work orders/support requests
  • Understanding of KAI business processes
