Work Type: Part-time/Seasonal

Nature of Work: The work of this classification involves assisting in the marketing of City of Omaha services and the greater Omaha metro area as a desirable destination for residents and visitors. This position will serve as a database expert and assist with website functionality through the Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Content Management System (CMS) and other database systems. An incumbent in this position exercises considerable independence in the performance of duties and responsibilities and receives general guidance from a superior.

Education and Experience: (The knowledge, skills, and abilities above may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.)

* Associate's degree with an emphasis in marketing or sales and One (1) year of related experience in marketing or sales OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and standard clerical techniques and office equipment
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to operate a computer and its attendant software to access databases, compose correspondence, gather information, create electronic sales presentations, and compile reports
  • Ability to proofread documents for spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Ability to make decisions on the basis of policies, procedures, laws, and regulations and apply them to work problems
  • Ability to work alone effectively and to motivate oneself with little supervision
  • Ability to maintain departmental and clerical records and to prepare reports from them
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to understand oral or written instructions
  • Ability to sit and type 76 - 100% of the time
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to ten (10) pounds up to 33% of the time

Essential Functions: (Any one position may not perform all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all of the duties that may be performed in positions allocated to this classification.)

  • Provides administrative support to the marketing staff.
  • Analyzes and optimizes database and ensures database accuracy.
  • Mines consumer database and coordinates mailings and contests.
  • Updates and maintains website content.
  • Ensures website coding accuracy and serves as the web partner liaison for website functionality.
  • Assists in the design and creation of multi-media content and serves as graphic design support.
  • Creates and edits multi-media content.
  • Maintains library of branding, marketing, and communications content.
  • Maintains video and photo galleries
  • Fulfills and tracks consumer requests.
  • Tracks and reports measures of success.
  • Maintains regular job attendance in accordance with a schedule established for the position by the supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
  • The following essential functions are specific to the designated division:
  • Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCVB):
  • Maintains leisure, media, and partner database.
  • Tracks earned media and prepares monthly and quarterly reports for distribution to appropriate tourism partners.
  • Reviews, summarizes, and advises on proposals from outside entities desiring OCVB business.
  • Assists in coordinating site visits and familiarization trips.
  • Parking and Mobility:
  • Assists with creating, maintaining, and executing, media plan for division programs and initiatives
  • Assists with creating annual report for public consumption by compiling information, formatting, and editing.
  • Documents and coordinates project communication plans.
  • Works with third party vendor(s) providing marketing and communication services.

Pay Range: $20.17 Hourly
