NYTech's College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an Assistant Director, Academic Affairs located at the Jonesboro, Arkansas campus. The Assistant Director of Academic Affairs supports the administration and coordination of academic programs for years 1 and 2. This role ensures compliance with institutional policies, manages academic logistics, and serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration. This role works closely with the Director of Academic Affairs and the assistant dean of academic affairs.



Responsibilities

    Monitor and manage student attendance for OMS1 and OMS2 cohorts using a tracking platform. Review and approve/deny exam excuse requests in consultation with the Director of Academic Affairs.
  • Build and manage Arkansas-specific academic logistics including CANVAS updates (labs, assessments, events), TeamUP calendar entries (mandatory events), Room scheduling for labs and exams, Coordination with Long Island campus.
  • Compile lab assignments and work with the Office of Student Administration on mentor/mentee lists.
  • Maintain shared drive folders for each student cohort. Store attendance records, meeting notes, and academic status documents. Use an academic database for student performance tracking.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Director of Academic Affairs. Communicate student concerns, attend meetings, assist in decision-making, and triage student inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Exam Coordinator and Curriculum Specialist. Understand exam building and scheduling processes.
  • Work with Administrative Assistants on departmental budget and purchases.
  • Manage educational committee submissions and follow-ups. Communicate with committee and IRB. Report to the Director of Academic Affairs.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4-5 years job related experience is required.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and projectmanagement skills.
  • High attention to details and accuracy in communication
  • Professionalism expectations and confidentiality in all communication aspects
  • Excellent work ethic with willingness to occasionally work beyond the typical workday
  • Self-initiating and self-regulating professional
  • Team oriented and able to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, students, and staff.
  • Adaptable and comfortable in fastpaced, evolving educational environments.
  • Conflict resolution skills

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in curriculum management software such as Canvas
  • Experience in exam software such as ExamSoft
  • Knowledge and skills related to educational program administration
  • Experience in use of basic and specialized computer applications (Outlook, Microsoft OneDrive/Teams, Red Cap)
  • Assist with preparation of accreditation documentation
