Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is a global investment bank providing services in banking, finance, and capital markets to corporations, institutional investors, asset managers, and governments globally. Our Equity-Linked Capital Markets Origination team structures and executes innovative equity-linked solutions, including convertible bonds, equity derivatives, and other hybrid securities, to meet clients' complex financing and strategic needs.

We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Analyst to join our Equity-Linked Capital Markets Origination team. This role offers unparalleled exposure to structuring and executing equity-linked transactions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and engaging directly with clients. The candidate will develop expertise in financial modeling, transaction execution, and market analysis while contributing to RBC's leadership in the equity-linked space.

What will you do?

  • Support senior bankers in structuring and executing equity-linked transactions (e.g., convertible bonds, mandatory convertibles, exchangeable notes, equity derivatives)
  • Build and maintain complex financial models to evaluate transaction structures, pricing, and scenarios
  • Prepare client presentations, pitch books, and marketing materials to articulate RBC's equity-linked solutions
  • Conduct market research and analysis of industry trends, including tax, accounting, and regulatory developments
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., IB coverage, Legal, Risk, Trading, Syndicate) to ensure seamless transaction execution
  • Monitor post-issuance performance of equity-linked securities and provide updates to clients and stakeholders
  • Participate in client meetings, leveraging technical expertise to build relationships and drive business development

What do you need to success?

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline
  • 0-4 years of experience in investment banking, equity capital markets, or a related field (e.g., structured products, derivatives)
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling (Excel), accounting, and valuation techniques
  • Familiarity with equity-linked instruments a plus, but not a requirement
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality client service

What's in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program include competitive compensation and flexible benefits, such as 401(k) program with company-matching contributions, health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and paid-time off
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • Opportunities to do challenging work
  • Opportunities to build close relationships with clients

The expected salary range for this particular position is $110,000 - $135,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.

RBC's compensation philosophy and principles recognize the importance of a highly qualified global workforce and plays a critical role in attracting, engaging and retaining talent that:

  • Enables collective achievement of our strategic goals
