Summary This position covers basic independent pipeline and terminal operations and maintenance functions. This position is mid grade assignment that includes intermediate knowledge of pipeline and terminal operations. Maintains the pipelines and terminals system in a safe, reliable and efficient manner. The position may also provide first level emergency response coverage of the pipelines and terminals. Responsibilities * Perform all job functions safely while complying with safety rules, procedures and policies * Perform pipeline and terminal maintenance activities and make repairs to equipment. * Assist pipeline specialist and maintenance crews on local projects * Perform routine facility inspections, housekeeping and (PM) equipment maintenance. * Operate and maintain light duty vehicles, hand tools and power equipment and also transport heavy equipment with low-boy or gooseneck trailers. * Support pipeline and terminal activities as described in the standard operation manual. * Take an active role within the Incident Command System * Use of computers and windows-based applications required to accomplish day-to-day activities, i.e. e-mail, spreadsheets, and other document processing as needed. * Maintain communications via both voice and electronic transmissions with offsite pipeline companies, oil spill vendors, NuStar field locations, customers and vendors. * Direct and/or supervise company hired contractors * Assist with troubleshooting and repairs on pumps, motors, switchgear, valves, meters and other associated pipeline equipment. * Participate in and successfully complete all required personal training including written and computer-based testing to validate competency and be able to successfully pass random DOT drug screens and OQ testing requirements. Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: * 4 years of maintenance operations experience or related experience required. * Verbal and written English communication skills * Well organized, self motivated and safety oriented * Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment * Able to accommodate over night travel * Have and maintain a valid DOT drivers license, pass DOT physical and background check * Posses ability and desire to grow with the position * Ability to operate facility systems including computer systems and calculators, radios, cellular phones GPS Units * Experienced with hand tools including, wrenches, screwdriver, saws, cutters, sand blasters, hammers, pliers, shovels, painting hardware. Line locator equipment; operate 4x4 mule or other off road vehicles including forklifts and heavy machinery. * Experienced with H2S monitors, 4-Gas meters, respirators, and breathing air equipment. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Climbing at least 60 feet on stairs at least a few times per week. * Climbing at least 7 to 11 feet on ladders or scaffolding at least a few times per month. * Lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. at least a few times a week, with the expectations that an employee can lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance, when needed. * Carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for up to 50 feet on a weekly basis. * Walking 100 yards or more over 10 times throughout the day, with the expectations that employees could walk regularly up to 300 yards at a time for a total of 2 miles or more during a shift. * Walking on steep inclines for up to 15 minutes at a time. * Working in a crouching position several times per day for up to an hour at a time. * Bending and stooping several times per day for up to 30 minutes at a time. * Bending and twisting for up to 30 minutes at a time. * Standing in one place for up to an hour at a time. * Sitting for up to two hours at a time. * Ability to wear all appropriate personal protection equipment, such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, flame-resistant clothing, hearing protection, respirator/breathing apparatus, and/or fall protection, as required by the job activities. * Ability to use or operate the hand tools, power tools, precision tools, measurement devices and other tools or equipment required by the job activities. | |
