Description and Requirements

Lenovo's legal department is looking for a talented, highly motivated and dynamic Financial Modeling Specialist, Legal, Patent Licensing to join its IP team.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate with demonstrated financial modeling and risk mitigation experience associated with complex inbound intellectual property (IP) license negotiations as a licensee, negotiating and supporting the drafting of complex intellectual property transactions in various technology areas and patent acquisition and divestiture agreements. Strong candidates would also have experience proactively providing IP strategy, and competitive and market intelligence as part of a IP licensing team.

We are looking for a candidate with significant experience to:

  • Analyze inbound IP license opportunities and develop competitive business intelligence to support such opportunities;

  • Provide strategic market and business advice as a licensee to develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to our IP rights with a focus on mitigating the risk of non-practicing entities and protecting Lenovo and Motorola Mobility market channels.

  • Proactively engage various business teams across the enterprise to understand current and future technology product offerings, identify potential IP risks associated with those product offerings and provide IP risk mitigation strategies to the corresponding business teams.

  • Support a range of intellectual property and technology transactional matters as a licensee from a financial modeling perspective, including comparable license and IP landscape analysis, portfolio valuation and aggregate and analyze internal and external data from multiple sources to better understand licensing offers and potential value of potential transactional matters.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor or Masters of Business Administration with superior academic credentials;

  • 8+ years of IP experience providing risk mitigation, financial and landscape modeling and IP strategies related to IP licensing transactions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with respect to supporting negotiations with potential licensors and working with and advising internal partners on inbound licensing opportunities;

  • Team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills;

  • Ability to manage complexity in a dynamic business environment;

  • Hard-working and a self-starter with excellent attention to detail;

  • Experience with third-party IP analytics tools and other related IP resources.


The base salary budgeted range for this position is $150k - 200K. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
