ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with direct supervisor to ensure appropriate completion of demand and preventive maintenance work orders, regulatory compliance is maintained, and system and department goals and initiatives are met.
  • Provides a timely and effective response to unanticipated facility needs, minimizing risks topatient and team members, to maintain safety and avoid interruption of service.
  • Maintains and repairs systems including but not limited to HVAC, life safety systems, andrefrigeration equipment at an advanced level.
  • Performs duties including but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and electrical, asassigned.
  • May be assigned responsibilities in remodeling projects including but not limited to assuringaccuracy of quotes and providing estimates.
  • Participates in managing inventories and expenses in compliance with operation budgets.
  • Work with outside suppliers to procure and assure proper inventory of supplies.
  • Works with outside contractors to ensure efficient and cost-effective repairs are performed as well as regulatory compliance inspections and testing is performed in order to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and Mercyhealth policies and procedures.
  • This position requires assistance with orientation and training of new and existing department partners.
  • Assumes responsibility for assurance of operation and quality of assigned systemsimpacting life safety.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation of equipment function, maintenance andtesting as specified by manufacturer or per regulatory compliance
  • Reviews CMMS inventories and makes recommendations to direct supervisor for adjustments.
  • In coordination with your direct supervisor, maintain regulatory compliance documentation, based on department guidelines, in a constant state of readiness.
  • May be required to provide in, and provide documentation and support evidence of compliance withregulatory bodies during surveys and/or inspections.
  • May work independently on challenging assignments with limited resources.
  • Prioritize and assign and/or perform demand work orders and preventive maintenance responsibilities as appropriate in order to ensure they are completed effectively, efficiently, and on time.
  • Completes mandatory detail documentation of tasks performed including time spentperforming tasks.
  • Effectively communicates with customers, peers, and leadership.
  • Knowledge in the use of a computer and related organizational programs, CMMS and BASis required.
  • Accurately and consistently performs detailed job expectations, that support the job description, contained in the FMES Coordinator Expectations document.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent

Five to seven years' experience in mechanical or electrical trades preferably in a healthcare setting.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

Healthcare Mechanic Certification (M.E.C.H.) preferred.

NIULPE Power Engineer certification or approved equivalent preferred.

EPA refrigerant handling certification preferred.

Maintain a valid driver's license.

Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.

For those driving their personal vehicles:

Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.

Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.

Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of blueprints and power tools

Knowledge of CMS, TJC, OSHA, EPA, DPH, and other regulatory bodies

Good interpersonal/communication skills

Ability to teach and instruct other team members in an effective manner

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud

PAY RANGE:

$26.63 - $38.62
