Position Summary:

Lead and oversee all Technical Services Activities related to Capital Budget, Project Management, Sustaining Engineering, Facilities - Utilities, Controls Engineering and Maintenance Systems groups cross al US Manufacturing Sites. Drive objectives and accountabilities for project delivery, equipment and process standardization, efficiencies and overall continuous improvement initiatives for the entire Technical Services Organization. Provide technical guidance given major engineering opportunities and perform a variety of administrative and financial functions in support of company goals, priorities and strategies.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties



  • Collaborate cross-functionally for tech transfer, process qualification, and method validation.
  • Act as technical and operational subject matter expert for assigned projects and processes from initiation through commercialization for manufactured medical device and pharmaceutical products.
  • Oversee equipment, production, and packaging processes cross all US manufacturing sites; escalate risks and drive performance improvements. Work with suppliers to troubleshoot process issues and provide technical expertise for deviation resolution.

  • Perform all leadership and administrative responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities associated with management of human resources including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; promoting, rewarding and disciplining employees when appropriate; addressing complaints and resolving problems and taking responsibility for the performance and actions of all employees within the department.


  • Provide technical support to operations and optimize existing manufacturing processes and equipment to assure effectiveness and robustness


  • Direct manufacturing support activities leading to successful on-time resolution of incidents and deviations and enhanced quality and effectiveness of manufacturing systems


  • Drive the continuous improvement of the company's existing technologies while also supporting the development of new technological and/or product innovations


  • Ensure initiatives or projects pertaining to equipment lifecycle management are identified, budgeted and executed.


  • Provide the interface support between Technology Operations and R&D in order to insure proper implementation of new technologies and provide support for Operations once the new technology is operational at the facility


  • Responsible for site Capital Program and Asset Life Cycle management


  • Assure a broad and healthy Technical leadership development program for Technical Services


  • Assure effective use of proper Project Management tools, methodology, costing tools and reporting.


  • Responsible for assessing equipment performance and implementation of improvement projects, predictive technologies, and other initiatives to increase equipment uptime.


  • Develop, implement and monitor the Technical Services operational budget to ensure compliance with approved expense limitations and determine causes of variance to budget


  • Direct and prioritize resources and personnel to ensure projects progress, meet time commitments and are within the prescribed budgets



Expertise: Knowledge & Skills




  • Knowledge of engineering project management and leadership methods and techniques


  • Knowledge of FDA and GMP regulations


  • Knowledge of budget planning and control practices


  • Knowledge of statistics, design of experiments, and Six Sigma techniques


  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and prioritize work activities and tasks


  • Ability to select, train, supervise and evaluate the work of departmental staff


  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbal and written


  • Ability to interface effectively with management and staff


  • Ability to utilize computerized spreadsheets, project management, statistics and presentation software systems



Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc

Required:




  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field with 10 or more years professional engineering experience involving pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing equipment and processes.


  • 5 years supervisory/management experience.


  • Strong knowledge in Project Management Methodology


  • Strong financial acumen


  • Combination of technical skills, administrative management skills, teamwork orientation and personal skills to effectively service and communicate with all stakeholders interacting with the Technical Department



Desired:




  • 3 years of experience as Director or Associate Director of Technical Services at a Pharmaceutical, Biologics or Medical Devices manufacturing site


  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification


  • PMP certification

Salary Range: $186,600 - $201,600


The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The range provided is a reasonable estimate.
