The Opportunity

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Coordinator to provide comprehensive administrative and financial support to the department and direct support to the Department Chair. This role is essential to the efficient daily operation of the department. The Administrative Coordinator plays a central role in supporting the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This position serves as a key liaison among faculty, students, staff, university administration, and external partners, ensuring that departmental activities run efficiently and in alignment with institutional policies and procedures. The role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and independent judgment, particularly when handling confidential financial, personnel, and academic matters.

In addition to providing comprehensive administrative support to the department, the Administrative Coordinator works closely with the Department Chair to assist with budgeting, financial monitoring, and strategic resource planning. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing purchasing transactions, tracking expenditures, and supporting fiscal accountability across departmental accounts. This position also oversees the daily operations of the departmental office, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment for faculty, students, and visitors. The Administrative Coordinator hires and supervises student employees and provides direction to the part-time Office Assistant, promoting a collaborative and service-oriented team culture.

This role typically follows standard office hours with some flexibility in scheduling. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required to support events.

Compensation

The hourly pay rate for this position is $18.00 to $20.00. The final offer will consider the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, along with applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs.
