Description

The GIS Intern will support the GIS team by working with high accuracy GPS data collected in Locusview and integrating it into the enterprise GIS. This role focuses on creating, validating, and correcting utility GIS data so it accurately reflects field conditions. The intern will work primarily in Esri ArcGIS Pro using the Utility Network data model, gaining hands on experience with real world utility GIS workflows. Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or a related field.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS


  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate, repetitive editing work.
  • This position is located onsite in Boise, ID.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Currently enrolled sophomore or junior in undergraduate study program in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Esri GIS software (ArcGIS Pro preferred).
  • Experience working with high-accuracy GNSS/GPS data.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Enter, review, and validate GPS pipeline and land data from Locusview and other sources into the GIS.
  • Edit and correct existing natural gas and land GIS data to match updated, more accurate field data.
  • Perform GIS editing and QA/QC in ArcGIS Pro and the Utility Network.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies between field data and existing GIS records.
  • Follow GIS standards, procedures, and safetyrelated data practices.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.


The internship is located onsite at our Boise, ID General Office with a desired up to 40 hour per week schedule, based on business needs. The duration will be from May to August.

Hourly Wage: $18.00
