XLA is looking for a Museum Curator of History to support a federal agency in Arlington, VA. This position requires the candidate to be eligible to obtain a U.S. secret security clearance and is onsite position Monday-Friday.

Salary: $85,000

Position Description/Responsibilities:



  • Writing professional-quality content for a public audience using primary source materials.
  • Conducting research to develop primary-source based content and complex projects.
  • Writing strictly using the Chicago Manual of Style, the Associated Press style guide, and the DEA Community Outreach and Prevention Support style guide, including citations.
  • Developing content for Museum products as assigned, to include new and existing physical, online, and traveling exhibits, video scripts, newsletters, and social media.
  • Managing the Museum website's content.
  • Collaborating closely with Museum staff on all projects and DEA staff as required.


Requirements:



  • Professional experience writing content for a public audience using primary source materials and the Chicago Manual of Style, including citations.
  • Published author.
  • Experience conducting scholarly research and managing writing projects.
  • Expertise in copy editing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with other Museum and DEA team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and pivot quickly to address changing priorities as needed.
  • Expertise with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Etc).
  • Ph. D or Ph. D candidate preferred; A candidate with a Master's degree may be considered depending on experience.
  • Candidate must provide a professionally published writing sample.
