| Position Summary |
The Programs and Project Manager serves as a central coordination and delivery leader for strategic research programs and initiatives within the
CAES Office of Research. The position supports the Associate Dean for Research, Assistant Dean for Research, and the Director of Industry Partnerships and Project-Based Learning by planning, coordinating, and executing cross-cutting research programs and projects designed to enhance faculty research productivity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and alignment with college and institutional priorities.
This role functions as a program and project management position, providing structured planning, coordination, monitoring, and execution support for complex, multidisciplinary research initiatives across
CAES departments, units, and Research and Education Centers (RECs). The incumbent ensures projects progress effectively from initiation through completion, aligning stakeholders, timelines, milestones, and deliverables while coordinating closely with appropriate university offices for compliance and administrative requirements.
The position also serves as a liaison among faculty Principal Investigators (PIs), department leadership, research staff, and central university research offices to facilitate clear communication, coordinated execution, and successful delivery of research programs and sponsored projects. This position will also be expected to travel as needed to facilitate project management activities. |

Program and Project Management
- Provide project management support for complex, multidisciplinary research programs and initiatives across CAES
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables for Office of Research programs and strategic initiatives
- Coordinate cross-departmental and multi-unit research teams to support effective collaboration and project execution
- Track project progress, identify risks or barriers, and recommend mitigation strategies to leadership
- Support the planning and execution of research-related activities such as workshops, seminars, convenings, and programmatic initiatives
- Ensure alignment of projects and programs with CAES and institutional research priorities

Stakeholder Coordination and Communication
- Serve as a primary coordination point between faculty PIs, department heads, research staff, RECs, and relevant central university offices
- Facilitate communication and information flow among internal and external stakeholders to support timely decision-making and project execution
- Assist PIs and program leaders with navigating research processes by coordinating with appropriate university units (e.g., Contracts & Grants, compliance offices)
- Prepare program updates, summaries, and briefings for Office of Research leadership
