Temporary Position Summary
The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry's rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used. The Technical Services Support Intern will learn the value of the TSD group to the company while providing support to the Program Management Office, Power Quality & Technical Solutions, Vegetation Management, Transformer Shop and Reliability Engineering Group. As an intern you will shadow an assigned employee and learn technical skills related to the Technical Services areas within EDS. You will perform a variety of duties that will be general or specialized nature in support of Technical Services and can be administrative or technical. This can include but not limited to assisting with daily tasks, participate in meetings, develop, or update procedures and processes Additionally, you will be able to provide feedback and recommendations to streamline existing processes. Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Must be a current high school student.
Must be a minimum age of 16.
Must reside within 120 miles of CPS Energy Headquarters.
Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating with other areas to achieve goals and objectives.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel.
Basic analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling.
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate an interest in a career applicable to the utility industry.
Participate in full-time employment with CPS Energy.
Attend all activities sponsored by CPS Energy during employment.
Pass a drug test and background screen prior to employment with CPS Energy. Preferred Qualifications
