Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat offers an unparalleled experiential learning opportunity for college students seeking for-credit, full-time engineering co-op experience within the defense industry. Students work alongside expert engineers, contributing to the design, construction, and lifecycle support of the United States Navy's nuclear submarines-shaping the future of undersea innovation.

Electric Boat engineers collaborate across disciplines and directly with our customer to develop advanced technical solutions. As an Engineering Co-op Trainee, students are immersed in real-world engineering activities with direct mentorship from senior staff. Trainees gain hands-on exposure to complex systems and cutting-edge projects, including work supporting the Columbia Class submarine design and enhancements to the Virginia Class fleet.

This program is designed to provide a deep, applied learning experience equivalent to an academic term, enabling students to build critical technical and professional skills in a highly collaborative engineering environment.
