Position Summary:

Provide legal support to U.S. HR & operations management for Parker U.S. locations, with a primary focus on claims management and compliance support.

Scope, Supervision and Interaction:

Reports to Associate General Counsel (Parker Legal Department HR Practice Area leader).

Essential Functions:

  • Representing Legal as proficient in area(s) of responsibility.
  • Manage labor / employment-related claims, including litigation, arbitrations and responses to employee EEO charges from government agencies.
  • Monitor labor & employment legislation for updates and prepare related summaries.
  • Counsel employee relations manager on labor management issues and collective bargaining agreement interpretation.
  • Work with HR compliance team to facilitate awareness of legislative updates and support compliance execution.
  • Periodic HR policy review & recommendations.
  • Periodic employee handbook review & updates.
  • Prepare and participate in legal update webinars sessions.
  • Periodic reviews of HR practices for compliance issues and support for improvements.
  • Support Legal Department's strategic planning and deployment initiatives, procedures and policies (including annual improvement priorities (AIPs) and metric performance) in areas of responsibility.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in one or more appropriate jurisdictions.
  • Five or more years of relevant, progressive experience as a practicing lawyer.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform each essential function with skill, efficiency and practicality.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to facilitate, influence and negotiate with a global audience at all levels.
  • Ability to operate and address a variety of legal and business issues independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative and practical legal and business solutions.
  • Willingness to learn and assume additional duties and responsibilities.
