General Summary

The Single Family Sales Assistant is responsible for supporting the sales team in their efforts to pursue new customers and service existing customers by coordinating administrative tasks needed to manage workflow throughout the plant. Provides support to customers and account managers by maintaining frequent communication with both and by helping troubleshoot problems. Works under general supervision; a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required; relays on pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains frequent communication with sales, inside sales, design, estimating, production, and field services to ensure the customers needs are met.
  • Works with account managers to comply with customer requests and to solve customer issues.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with customers.
  • Administrative duties that include but are not limited to entering bid requests, downloading of plans, RFI's, Ship-To requests, etc.
  • Attends pre-design and post design meetings.
  • Coordinates with design team, account managers and customers for tasks associated with live production jobs.
  • Organizes and maintains customer pricing folders.
  • Attends customer events when available.
  • Point of contact for sales while in the field traveling, on vacation, or time off.
  • Prepares various reports or correspondence as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Specifications

Knowledge Required

  • Minimum of high school graduate with some college preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience in customer services, preferred
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Construction industry knowledge a plus
  • Working knowledge of various office equipment (computer, scanner, etc)

Skills and abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking
  • Proficiency in the use of business math, and ability to learn lumber math
  • Ability to read construction plan documents
  • Ability to successfully communicate with all organizational levels
  • Ability to communicate clearly via phone and email with customers, co-workers and management
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work load and manage time
  • Ability to work hours mandated by management
  • Ability to pass a drug test

Working Conditions

Working environment is favorable. Requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time; up to 12 hours per day. Requires to be mobile in the work environment. Some travel may be required.
