SUMMARY

The Director, Trade Relations will develop and oversee relationships with Trade wholesalers, specialty distributors, and specialty pharmacy partnersin support of Lundbeck's portfolio of oral and infused products. In this role, the Director will provide strategic leadership across trade channels, oversee critical partner relationships, lead contract negotiations, and ensure execution of contractual obligations to support the product and patient journey and deliver an optimal customer experience.

This position will report to the Senior Director, Specialty Channels & Trade and collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional partners including: Market Access, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Analytics, and Global colleagues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Provides executive oversight and strategic leadership for Trade relationships, including Wholesalers, Specialty Distributors, and Specialty Pharmacies, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and objectives.
  • Develops and implements long-term strategic plans for Trade relations, aligned with organizational goals, market dynamics, and portfolio evolution.
  • Conduct FMV (Fair Market Value) analyses in partnership with internal and external SMEs.
  • Leads contract negotiations strategy and execution across Trade partners, including financial modeling, return on investment assessment, FMV analyses, and risk management in partnership with internal and external SMEs.
  • Leads the development, oversight, and execution of account-level strategic plans for Trade partners.
  • Establishes and maintains senior-level relationships with Trade partners, building depth and breadth of engagement through regular strategic interactions and governance forums.
  • Drives innovation in Trade partner programs, including development of new initiatives, enhancements of existing programs, and continuous improvement in reporting and performance tracking.
  • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) for Trade partners, including Wholesaler, Specialty Distributor, and Specialty Pharmacies, ensuring compliance with contract terms and driving continuous performance improvement.
  • Works collaboratively with Data Aggregator and Advanced Analytics teams to ensure Trade data received from partners are accurate, validated, and actionable.
  • Monitors inventory levels (DoH) across trade partners to mitigate risk of stock-outs or overages and ensure alignment with distribution strategy.
  • Leads the planning and execution of Quarterly Business Reviews with contracted Trade partners.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to leadership and cross-functional teams by identifying key business questions and delivering data-driven insights to support decision-making and enhance patient access and experience.



REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS



  • Accredited bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of commercial experience (e.g. Market Access, Trade and Distribution, Sales, Marketing, Analytics, Relationship Management).
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical /biotech Trade Relations experience with a strong understanding of Trade processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Trade partner account management experience including Wholesaler, Specialty Distributor, and Specialty Pharmacies.
  • Experience supporting Specialty pharmaceutical products.
  • Proven experience leading contract negotiations and managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contract language and structures, including bona-fide service arrangements and Fair Market Value (FMV) principles, with the ability to assess compliance, risk, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience evaluating return on investment and managing risk.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strategic external.
  • Strong project leadership skills with experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.



PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS



  • MBA, MHA, or advanced degree in business, pharmacy or related fields.
  • Experience in CNS Neurology, specialty therapeutics, and/or rare or neuro-rare disease therapeutic areas.
  • Experience supporting product launches.
  • Experience with physician administered specialty pharmaceutical products.
  • Advanced training in market access strategy across the product.
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and executing Trade and/or payer contracts.
  • Strong Preference to be based in Deerfield, IL Office



TRAVEL



  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 40% domestically. International travel may be required.
  • If based remotely, additional travel will be required to Deerfield, IL, to meet the needs of the role and the business



The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $220,000 - $250,000 and eligibility for a 25% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company's long-term incentive plan.
