UCSD Department of Dermatology was founded in January 2015 bringing together a team of 70 faculty members specializing in Adult and Pediatric & Adolescent Dermatology, making us one of the largest Dermatology programs in the nation. Our faculty are experts in their fields and are involved in a wide range of clinical, education and research endeavors. UCSD Dermatology has an extensive basic science and clinical research portfolio that allows for substantial funding support from NIH and extramural sources. Dermatology faculties have rich programs of skin research focused on immunology, microbiology, genetics and cancer. They have funded research programs on: 1) studies on the development of the innate immune system and its interaction with the skin microbiome, 2) trials comparing alternative treatments for management of psoriasis, rosacea and atopic dermatitis biologics, 3) studies of biomarkers for acne and acne rosacea, 4) the study of genetics and epigenetics of human skin development and progression to disease, 5) atopic dermatitis inflammation and antimicrobial peptides and 6) skin cancer development and melanoma acquired drug resistance. Under the supervision of the PI, the incumbent will perform routine and specialized laboratory techniques in support of cell-based, biochemical, and in vivo dermatology research. The incumbent will assist with the execution of experiments, preparation of reagents, handling and processing of biological samples, maintenance of accurate laboratory records, and general laboratory operations. The position will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other laboratory personnel to support studies involving mammalian cell culture, biochemical assays, and mouse-based experiments. This role provides hands-on research experience in an academic biomedical research environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $59,905 - $71,451 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $28.69 - $34.22 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
