Senior Manager, Supply Chain (Purchasing)


Job Summary: The Senior Manager of Supply Chain is responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day management of procurement, sourcing, and material acquisition. This role oversees supplier relationships, cost management, and inventory control to ensure timely procurement of quality materials and services. The Senior Manager of Supply Chain will develop and execute sourcing strategies, implement dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and establish metric measurements with clear action plans to support business objectives. The Senior Manager of Supply Chain will act as the primary delegate for the Director of Supply Chain, empowered to make operational and strategic decisions across planning, shipping, receiving, stockroom, purchasing, and supplier quality engineering functions.


Job Specification


Procurement & Supplier Management


  • Lead material sourcing, supplier negotiations, selection, and contract management to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Drive supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Balance supply risks (capacity, constraints) with cost reduction opportunities to build a resilient and efficient purchasing strategy.



Strategic Purchasing & Cost Control


  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to improve cost efficiency, quality, and supplier performance.
  • Monitor purchasing budgets, analyze spending trends, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and value optimization.
  • Utilize lean methodologies to streamline procurement processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier capabilities.



Cross-Functional Collaboration & Change Management


  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Serve as a change agent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Translate organizational objectives into actionable purchasing strategies that drive competitive advantage.
  • Develop and maintain action plans to achieve procurement and supply chain goals.



Team Leadership & Development


  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing purchasing team, fostering professional growth.
  • Provide constructive feedback and performance management to enhance team capabilities.
  • Oversee daily purchasing operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.



Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Industry certifications (CPIM, CPSM, APICS, Six Sigma, or LEAN) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, with at least X years in a managerial role.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.



Work Environment:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners/copier machine, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • Some travel may be required for this position (5-10%)

Physical Requirements:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand at length (7-8 hours, daily), walk consistently, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • This position requires the ability to skillfully use measuring instruments, hand, and power tools



This position is at our Parsippany NJ office location.

Pay Range: $133,000 - $170,000/year
