Starkey is hiring for a HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Eden Prairie, MN headquarters. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of a large-scale rooftop HVAC system across a multi-building campus. This role ensures reliable heating and cooling performance, supports system upgrades, and maintains optimal temperature balance for occupied spaces and critical IT environments. This position will maintain the building in regard to electrical, plumbing, general repairs, and property grounds as needed. - Maintain HVAC systems.
- Maintain and service 141 rooftop units (RTUs) across a five-building, 300,000 square foot campus
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on all RTUs during Spring and Fall seasons
- Coordinate and support RTU replacement projects, including planning and contractor oversight
- Diagnose and repair RTU components, including heat exchangers, compressors, blower motors, gas valves, and related systems
- Update, monitor, and maintain the Nest thermostat management system
- Balance temperatures and airflow to ensure consistent comfort throughout all campus buildings
- Service and maintain dedicated cooling systems for data closets and the primary data center
- Professionally document all preventative maintenance, repair, and other information for ease of reference, warranty claims, and record retention.
- Assist with electrical maintenance throughout the building.
- Assist troubleshooting electrical problems and repair.
- Assist with electrical wiring for all remodeling projects and moving production benches.
- Assist with plumbing within the building.
- Install, maintain, and repair facility faucets.
- Maintain restrooms and lunchroom.
- Plumb air lines.
- Assist with the heating/cooling system within the building.
- Maintain climate control throughout the building.
- Provide preventive maintenance on systems such as: change filters, clean coils, maintain compressor, etc.
- Troubleshoot and repair heating/cooling systems.
- Handle and/or assist with general repairs throughout the building.
- Determine the problem and troubleshoot and repair the problem as needed.
- Order and/or purchase necessary maintenance or custodian supplies with manager's approval.
- Stock and inventory maintenance and custodian supplies.
- Support and perform requests from internal departments.
- Perform daily/weekly change of light bulbs throughout the facility.
- Perform miscellaneous projects as needed - such as painting the building interior walls, set-up the lunchroom for meetings, grill for in-house picnics and when needed help at the warehouse with loading and unloading and with any other tasks.
- Recycling - batteries, plastic, paper, razor blades, cans, UV blubs and etc.
- Remove/empty when containers are full and place in holding area for recycling to be picked-up or take to a recycling facility.
- Maintain the property grounds.
- Lawn mowing, weed control, snow removal by building entrances, put de-icer down and clean-up debris off the grounds.
- Support and assist with Health & Safety.
- Conduct monthly and yearly inspections on the emergency lights & exits.
- Handle chemical spills.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements
- Education
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Vo-tech degree: heating/cooling required
- Minnesota Class D Driver's License with a clean driving record required
- Experience
- 1+ year experience or hands on education in HVAC
Knowledge / Technical Requirements
- Basic mechanical knowledge in the areas of: plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical and general repairs.
Competencies, Skills & Abilities
- Good troubleshooting skills required.
- Good interpersonal skills required.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Ability to use small and large hand tools required.
- Ability to walk, crawl, bend, climb, kneel, overhead reach, and differentiate color required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull 50 lbs. required.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision required.
- Typing and computer skills helpful.
WORK CONTEXT Working Conditions
- Mostly office and manufacturing environment.
- Occasional outdoor work in warm and cold temperatures and dusty conditions.
- Inventory areas to be kept clean and organized at all times.
- Regular attendance and responsiveness to reasonable job-related directives as given by the manager
- Will stand 33%, walk 33% and sit 34% of the time.
Equipment Operation

Salary and Other Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is between $27.02 - 35.33 / hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
