In this role, the right candidate will be challengingtechniques and methodologies tosupportthe development of innovative and creative food products and processes, helping to deliver the next generation of plant-based protein solutions to consumers.
The role is part of the Advanced Analytical group located in the Cortex Innovation Community in St. Louis, MO. This is a laboratory position so on-site work 5 days a week is a requirement, with manager's discretion of any potential work from home capabilities. Where You'll Make a Difference
- Use knowledge of and skills in chemistry, biology, or food science to generate data critical for supporting the design and development of various R&D initiatives.
- Work closely with product developers to evaluate bench level prototypes, support pilot and commercial scale trials, and help to strengthen and reinforce the case for product feasibility to the business by generating, analyzing, and reporting sound technical data.
- Set up, conduct and correlate a variety of moderately complex scientific tests and experiments; evaluate the adequacy of techniques and procedures under consideration by observing pertinent reactions and comparing results to test objectives.
- Ability to write SOPs, inspection methods, and other documents critical to the success of quality assurance labs. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to independently plan and prioritize experiments within a defined workstream and deliver timely and high-quality results.
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, both internally with product development teams, quality, regulatory, and business partners as well as externally with networked analytical laboratories, manufacturing sites, and customers.
- Display agility and adaptability, capable of learning a variety of methods and techniques and shifting priorities when needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems as they occur and identify/suggest solutions and improvements.
What Makes You the Right Fit
- MS or PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related area with very strong laboratory skills and a desire to be at the bench.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting required.
- Must demonstrate the desire to learn and execute Six Sigma methodology if they are not already familiar.
- Experience working in a highly collaborative team-oriented environment. Interpersonal skills, adaptability/flexibility, and ability to function effectively as part of a diverse team are of the highest importance.
