| Position Purpose |
This position has primary responsibility for managing non-science facilities related to Dartmouth's academic and administrative spaces within the School of the Arts and Sciences. The Facilities Manager is the liaison for the building users to ensure that facilities-related needs are understood, prioritized and planned accordingly. This role reviews all facilities operations, preventative maintenance programs, capital renewal needs, and works in concert with the academic and administrative staff to manage programmatic expectations. The Facilities Manager also ensures the School of Arts and Sciences facilities meet the compliance, sustainability, and program standards that support the academic and research mission of the College. |

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management or a related field.
- Three to five years of hands-on experience in facilities management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in key operating areas including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Ability to manage all facilities areas, working with state and federal laws and regulations, and facilities compliance requirements.
- Excellent supervisory and interpersonal communications skills.
- Ability to relate well to diverse groups of constituents and to build strong relationships within and among those groups.
- Demonstrates Initiative, sound judgment and ability to set priorities and to work. independently and as part of a high-performing team.
- Flexible and diplomatic management style that empowers staff, sets high expectations, and holds department colleagues accountable.

Key Accountabilities
| Description |
Facilities Planning and Management
- Coordinate with academic and administrative departments to ensure the facilities meet their programmatic needs and acts as the primary liaison between building occupants and Facilities Operations and Management (FO&M), Project Management Services, Utilities and Engineering, Safety and Security, Environmental Health and Safety, and the Office of Emergency Management.
- Communicate consistently with the building stakeholders to ensure all parties understand priorities and timelines for operational support, projects, and all other facilities related initiatives.
- Actively engages in the design and implementation of any new building initiatives or major renovations needed including the College's decarbonization project.
- Develop and maintains the planned maintenance program with FO&M and the Dartmouth Facilities Customer Service Center for all infrastructure that supports the buildings using the integrated work management system, Planon.
- Oversee the daily service maintenance program to address all corrective and directive work requested by building users.
- Collaborate closely with FO&M maintenance, custodial, and grounds services to provide supplemental support for building operations beyond the capacity of the site-based staff. This includes subcontractors as needed.

Service and Compliance
- Work with the Facilities Customer Service Center to track and report on all daily service, planned maintenance, and directive work orders. Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on building operations to FO&M leadership, Science Facilities, and other stakeholders.
- Work with FO&M leaders to set and maintain service standards across all areas of responsibility. Directs a quality control process designed to support accountability and the achievement of service standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, OSHA, state, and municipal regulations
- Review campus design standards for each project and renovation to ensure scope complies with Dartmouth expectations.
- Works with the School of Arts and Science Financial Office to ensure appropriate fiscal management, procurement, and resource administration.
