Vice President, Finance

Position Overview
Munich American Reassurance Company (MARC) is seeking a Vice President of Finance to play a senior leadership role within its U.S. Life finance organization. This role will partner closely with the CFO to oversee accounting, financial reporting, treasury, expense management, and internal control functions, while helping scale the organization through strategic growth initiatives.

This role offers broad visibility, decision-making authority, and leadership scope across a complex reinsurance platform, with regular exposure to senior leadership, local entity boards, regulators, and global finance counterparts.
Key Responsibilities
* Executive Leadership
o Lead and develop high-performing finance teams
o Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on financial strategy and accounting guidance
o Drive operational efficiency, process improvement, and scalable finance infrastructure
* Accounting & Financial Reporting
o Oversee technical and non technical accounting across reinsurance, investments, and intercompany activity
o Ensure high-quality financial reporting across IFRS, Statutory, Solvency II, and Tax bases
o Serve as a senior point of contact with external auditors
o Provide accounting guidance on complex transactions, new deals, and strategic initiatives
* Treasury & Expense Management
o Lead enterprise expense planning, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with business leaders
o Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and banking relationships
o Partner with investment leadership to assess liquidity needs and capital deployment
* Risk, Controls & Compliance
o Provide executive oversight of internal controls, MAR/SOX compliance, and operational risk frameworks
o Lead risk assessments, control design, deficiency remediation, and Audit Committee reporting
o Ensure strong regulatory compliance and governance across the finance organization
* Talent & Transformation
o Build, mentor, and retain top finance talent
o Lead finance transformation initiatives including systems, data, and process modernization
o Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
We are looking for a seasoned finance leader with insurance or reinsurance experience who thrives in complex, regulated environments. You combine technical rigor with executive presence and are comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on leadership.
* CPA required
* Minimum 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within finance organizations
* IFRS and U.S. Statutory accounting experience
* Demonstrated ability to lead large high performance teams, influence senior stakeholders, and manage complex projects in a global organization.
* Ability to effectively manage change, work in uncertain environments, and achieve desired outcomes
* Based in New York with a minimum of 4 days per week in-office presence.

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $399,633 - $462,733, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
