Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a client program specialist for engagement through the firm's contract attorney and alternative staffing program, DWTSurge. This contract position will work with the Firm's litigation practice group to help support a high-volume of litigation cases, including small claims and arbitrations, for large institutional DWT clients. Candidates based in New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia are preferred. The selected candidate will assist with fact investigations and the legal defense of various demands, arbitrations, and litigation matters, including appearing in small claims courts as assigned by supervisors. Working collaboratively as part of a team of legal professionals, the candidate will support matters assigned by DWT on behalf of DWT clients. Responsibilities include direct communication with plaintiffs, responding to demand letters, and preparing for settlement conferences, arbitrations, and court appearances. The role also requires travel to and appearances in small claims court on behalf of DWT clients. Candidates who are willing to travel to and appear in court as needed, who are excited about this unique opportunity to obtain hands-on courtroom experience, and who are eager to learn and be trained on the requirements of this role, are encouraged to apply. Candidates will work closely with DWT attorneys as part of a collaborative team, providing high-value legal services to DWT clients. Beyond occasional travel on the East Coast (New York and Washington DC metro areas) for specific proceedings and assignments, the work will be fully remote. We anticipate the role will require full-time hours, averaging 37.5 hours per week. The amount of work may vary from week to week and a minimum number of hours per week is not guaranteed. While the engagement is for an initial 6-month contract term, we anticipate the work to remain relatively steady and there is a high likelihood that the contract position may be renewed for successful candidates. The ideal candidate will have:
