DESCRIPTION

The Anaplan Solution Architect serves as both a strategic design leader and a hands-on team lead within the Health Sciences Business Analytics organization. This role is responsible for shaping end-to-end Anaplan planning solutions that address complex business needs while guiding a team of model builders and analysts through successful delivery. The position blends deep expertise in Anaplan architecture with strong leadership capabilities, ensuring scalable solution design, cohesive execution, and alignment with broader business objectives.

Receives assignments in the form of high-level financial planning and business intelligence objectives. Establishes the strategic goals and technical processes by which the Anaplan team-specifically the Model Builders-will meet these objectives.

Provides direct supervision and technical direction to staff, ensuring all model development adheres to established Anaplan PLANS methodologies and university IT policies. Administers internal governance policies that directly affect subordinate staff, including Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), code review standards, and data security protocols.

Regularly evaluates and recommends changes to departmental policies and modeling practices to enhance system performance and data integrity. Proactively identifies architectural risks, such as model sparsity or integration bottlenecks, and implements mitigation strategies. Responsible for priority setting across multiple Health Sciences workstreams and performing continuous workflow analysis to optimize the delivery of budgeting, forecasting, and reporting solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Lead end-to-end EPM engagements with Anaplan, from strategy and roadmap through design, build, testing, deployment, and sustainment.

* Manage executive stakeholder relationships, facilitate decision-making, and provide status, risk, and value realization updates.

* Project scope definition and management, requirements gathering and documentation, time estimating, project schedule development and tracking, project budget management, project status reporting, issue and risk management, contingency planning, customer interaction, and communications.

* Oversee multi-workstream delivery, functional/process design (scenario design, flow mapping), prototyping, testing, training, and post-go-live support procedures.

* Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement through Anaplan.

* Guiding the integration of Anaplan with other systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

* Build, guide and mentor a team of skilled model builders, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and hands-on support while fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and excellence.

* Conducting regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

* Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution.

* Staying up-to-date with the latest Anaplan features and industry trends, incorporating them into solution designs and team skill development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus five years of related experience/training.

  • In-depth knowledge of various areas of IT. Broad knowledge of the IT environment. Has solid knowledge of information systems function. Expert understanding of multidimensional modeling, including PLANS standards and the DISCO design methodology.

  • Knowledge necessary to design, set up, operate and correct malfunctions involving technology systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software.

  • Advanced knowledge of secure software development. Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

  • Has solid interpersonal and management skills. Demonstrated skill in managing technical staff. Includes mentoring junior model builders and conducting peer model reviews for quality assurance.

  • Has solid knowledge of related principles and concepts to provide solutions to more complex and diverse information systems issues. Solid knowledge of the applications programming development function. Solid ability to gather, organize, and analyze data in the completion of assignments. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex formula logic, resolve sparsity issues, and optimize model performance (e.g., reducing cell count or calculation time).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires solid ability to communicate highly technical information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and nontechnical personnel. Ability to communicate highly technical architectural concepts (like " Data Hubs" or "Multidimensionality") to non-technical finance and executive stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of test application code in client server environment Demonstrated ability to test application code including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) for model synchronization.

  • Knowledge of conceptual database design. Proven experience designing and managing data pipelines using tools like Anaplan CloudWorks, Anaplan Connect, or ETL middleware (e.g., Informatica, MuleSoft).

  • Proficiency with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Anaplan, Tableau, SAP HANA) and advanced Excel (power-user level) for legacy process translation.

  • Proficiency in The Anaplan Way (Agile) project management methodology, including experience managing sprint cycles. Experience leading multiple full-cycle/end-to-end Anaplan implementations as a lead model builder or architect.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Anaplan Model Building, with a proven track record of leading multiple full-cycle/end-to-end Anaplan implementations as a lead model builder or architect.

  • Anaplan Solution Architect Certification.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $108,100 - $204,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $51.77 - $98.13

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
