Job Title: Commercial Construction Estimator Location: 4412 Lois Drive, Anchorage, AK 99518 Company: Spenard Builders Supply Employment Type: Full-Time About Us Spenard Builders Supply is a leading supplier of high-quality building materials serving commercial construction projects across Alaska. We partner with contractors, developers, and architects to deliver accurate pricing, dependable service, and on-time material solutions. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Construction Estimator to support our sales and project teams. Position Summary The Commercial Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate material takeoffs, cost estimates, and bids for commercial construction projects. This role works closely with sales representatives, vendors, and customers to ensure competitive pricing, timely proposals, and profitable project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Review commercial construction plans, specifications, and bid documents Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and proposals Price materials using internal systems, vendor quotes, and market data Coordinate with sales, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure feasibility and accuracy Communicate with contractors, architects, and project managers regarding scope and pricing Track bid status, revisions, and awarded projects Maintain organized records of estimates, drawings, and supporting documentation Identify value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities when applicable Qualifications Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and materials Experience with blueprint reading and specification analysis Proficiency with estimating software and Excel (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously Excellent communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working for a building material supplier or distributor Familiarity with lumber, drywall, steel, concrete, or specialty building materials Knowledge of local commercial construction markets and codes Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Career growth opportunities within a growing organization At Builders FirstSource, we offer competitive, affordable benefits designed to make life better for you and the people you love.
