Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Unit Specialist for the Division of Life Sciences (
DLS).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Monitors, verifies, and reconciles expenditures of budgeted funds, prepares financial statements reflecting status of programs and activities.
- Analyzes financial data and prepares financial documents and reports for internal and external purposes.
- Ensures compliance with University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
- Creates and maintains database to capture employee and historical data.
- Provides assistance in the day-to-day operations and development of DLS policies and procedures.
- Performs special tasks and projects for management as assigned.
- Acts as a liaison to ensure the integration of DLS business activities across departments and within University structure.
- Works under general supervision, within established parameters, with few direct instructions.
- Carries out routine and non-routine tasks with occasional review of work outputs by supervisor.
- Performs professional work requiring knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles and practices (GAAP), and a good understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of accounting.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field plus at least two (2) years of relevant experience in a financial/accounting function, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
