Job Description




As a Security Officer - Community Walking Patrol in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal at a shelter location as an unarmed patrol officer, monitoring and patrolling assigned areas to help reduce security-related incidents. You will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence, support access points, and communicate clearly with staff, residents, and visitors while delivering helpful customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to staff, residents, clients, and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including supporting de-escalation and coordinating with on-site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including common spaces, entrances, hallways, parking areas, and the perimeter, to help to deter policy violations and/or unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access points by observing and documenting visitor traffic, verifying authorization as directed by site policy, and reporting suspicious behavior, hazards, and/or maintenance concerns.
  • Complete thorough written and digital reports, including incident documentation, patrol logs, and shift handoffs, and communicate timely updates to site contacts and Allied Universal supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
