Farnsworth Group is seeking a Surveying Technician - Office (MicroStation ORD/AutoCAD C3D) in one of the below posting locations.
Posting Locations for this role: Peoria or Normal, IL
What You'll Do:


  • Work independently to obtain records & project information
  • Prepares complex drawings from field data and field sketches using computer-aided drafting software platforms and ensures drawings are accurate and complete.
  • Adheres to company and client standard CAD procedures as mandated.
  • Exercises independent judgment in the execution of surveying deliverables.
  • Communicates ideas for drawing execution, design and layout.
  • Maintains schedules and communicates progress on a daily basis.
  • Mentors less experienced surveying technicians and offers advice & knowledge.



What You'll Need:


  • 6+ years previous surveying experience
  • Valid US driver's license & good driving record
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate in a mentor / mentee team atmosphere
  • Ability to understand and utilize current & new technology
  • Safety oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive and collaborative work ethic
  • Experience with MS Office products (Word & Excel)


Nice To Haves:


  • 10+ years previous surveying experience
  • Expert/advanced understanding of land surveying and geometry.
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD C3D and/or MicroStation ORD
  • CST1 or CST 2 or CST 3 (certified survey technician level 1 or 2 or 3) certification.
  • Experienced with Aerial Drone and 3D Point Cloud scanning technology.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:


  • Primarily an office position, ability to work outside on projects if needed.
  • Ability to work in various terrain & weather conditions and recognize safety hazards.
  • Requires the ability to work on multi-discipline projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a computer and work in an office environment.
  • Makes suggestions & undertakes company mandated trainings to increase skill and ability.
