DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Insurance Forms Review Intern, you will be actively participating in on-the-job training assignments to learn about the various functions of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department regarding form and binder reviews with specific focus on health insurance companies. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop an understanding of basic regulatory standards and procedures as well as Pennsylvania insurance laws related to the analysis of health insurance forms, templates, and other supporting documentation within form and binder filings, specifically for major medical health insurance including qualified health plans. Work also involves performing data research using the templates and documents submitted by companies, including the retrieval and aggregation of data, and performing data analysis noting any trends or anomalies. Additional responsibilities include assisting with special projects which may include researching and updating Department form and binder review procedures and documentation, developing data templates/spreadsheets, and conducting data analysis of form and binder filings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Internship, anticipated start date of June 2026
  • Parking is provided
  • Work hours will be flexible within 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch, to align with the supervisor and unit.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office a few days per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program (Spring of 2026 graduates may also be considered for this program)
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
  • Enrolled in a business administration, public administration, healthcare administration, social science or behavioral sciences, statistics, data analytics, data science, computer science, or health and information technology program

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
