DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Insurance Consumer Protection Intern, you will actively participate in on-the-job training assignments to learn about the various functions of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department. These assignments will be focused on the consumer protection functions of consumer services. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop an understanding of insurance principles, practices, and laws, as well as assist in the review and investigation of consumer complaints. Lastly, you will learn how to conduct research in order to effectively answer inquiries from the general public and licensees regarding various insurance regulations, statutes, adjudications, and industry trends.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Internship, anticipated start date of June 2026
  • Parking is provided
  • Work hours will be flexible within 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch, to align with the supervisor and unit.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office one day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program (Spring of 2026 graduates may also be considered for this program.)
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
