OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANYFox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. Fox Television Stations is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support both the Sales organization and FOX-owned television stations.

This is a high-volume, fast-paced role responsible for delivering full-scope HR generalist support across multiple locations and diverse employee populations. The HR Generalist will partner closely with Sales leadership, Station management, Corporate Human Resources, Finance, and Legal to ensure consistent policy application, compliance with employment laws and regulations, and effective employee relations guidance.

Operational Flexibility: FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus operates 24/7; flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs require, is essential.

This position reports to the Director of Human Resources, Sales & Stations and is based in Bethesda, MD, supporting operations across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

HR Generalist Support

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to Sales teams and Station employees, including managers and individual contributors, across multiple locations.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employee relations matters, including performance concerns, workplace conduct issues, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Support performance management and performance evaluation processes, including coaching managers on documentation and process adherence.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure compliance with company policies, confidentiality standards, and recordkeeping requirements.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage full life-cycle recruitment for Sales and Station roles, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, offers, and onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure hiring practices are timely, compliant, and aligned with business needs.

Leaves, Workers' Compensation & HR Transactions

  • Administer FMLA, leaves of absence, and workers' compensation processes across multiple states.
  • Process HR transactions including hires, promotions, compensation changes, terminations, and employee status changes.

Compliance, Reporting & Regulatory Support

  • Assist with preparation of required reports, including EEO, FCC, and other regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws applicable to both corporate sales teams and broadcast station environments.
  • Partner with Corporate HR to ensure employment regulatory requirements are met and company policies are followed..

Labor Relations & Station-Specific Support

  • Support HR matters related to unionized environments; prior experience working with collective bargaining agreements preferred.
  • Partner with Station leadership on workforce issues unique to broadcast operations, including scheduling considerations and operational demands.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Corporate HR, Legal, Finance, and Station leadership on employee relations matters, investigations, and special projects.
  • Partner with Finance on headcount tracking, reporting, and compensation-related initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive HR Generalist experience, preferably supporting Sales teams and/or broadcast station operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws; multi-state experience preferred.
  • Experience with OFCCP regulations and affirmative action compliance a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting unionized environments and collective bargaining agreements preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and HRIS systems; Workday experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, hands-on HR work with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees and leaders at all levels.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $75,000.00-80,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
