Occupational Summary

TheSenior Multimedia Producerfor Trinity College of Arts & Sciences is part of an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative communications team responsible for creating content that reflects the breadth, depth, and diversity of scholarship, teaching, and student life across the college.

This role focuses primarily onproducing and editing high-quality,video-first multimedia content to be featured across college and university websites, social media platforms, newsletters and other communications channels. The Senior Multimedia Producer will also regularly produce photography and select graphic design assets to support integrated storytelling efforts.

The Trinity College of Arts & Sciences encompasses more than 40 academic departments and units spanning the Arts & Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. Multimedia content produced in this role will highlight excellence in research and teaching, support undergraduate and graduate recruitment, advance Trinity's strategic ambitions, and strengthen the college's reputation within Duke and beyond.

Worked Performed

Multimedia Production



  • In collaboration with communications colleagues and as the lead video producer, develop and execute a visual storytelling strategy that captures the full range of academic, research, and student experiences across Trinity.


  • Lead theend-to-end production of video projects, including concept development, scripting and storyboarding support, scheduling, filming, editing, and final delivery.
  • Plan and manage video and photography shoots, including coordinating logistics, directing subjects, setting up lighting and audio, and adapting quickly to varied environments.
  • Produce high-quality photography and limited graphic design assets to complement video projects and support broader editorial, web, and social media needs.
  • Edit and refine visual content based on stakeholder feedback, ensuring timely delivery and strong alignment with strategic goals.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and best practices in video and multimedia storytelling. Build relationships with multimedia peers across Duke to share ideas and expertise.
  • Recommend external vendors or professional services when appropriate to meet project needs.


Digital Asset & Equipment Management



  • Contribute to the management of Trinity's digital asset management system, maintaining a clear taxonomy and ensuring assets are well organized, searchable, and accessible.
  • Assist with the retrieval and distribution of Trinity's visual assets for internal partners.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the team's photography and videography equipment inventory, including evaluating new tools, recommending purchases and performing routine maintenance.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $86,700.00. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Work requires the ability to perform creative writing and related activities such as conducting interviews and research, and copy editing normally acquired through attainment of a bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or a related discipline.

Experience: Work requires two years of directly related writing experience.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Preferred Qualifications

Requires an understanding of visual media to coordinate and direct the production of such projects, generally acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or another discipline related to media production.

At least two years of professional videography and photography experience and the ability to create a variety of creative, artistic and skilled videography and photography activities. Five or more years of experience, including professional work in higher education, is preferred.

  • Strong visual storytelling instincts, with the ability to translate complex academic work into compelling, audience-focused narratives.
  • Advanced understanding of video production fundamentals, including lighting, sound, camera operation, composition, and directing on-camera subjects.
  • Ability to assess shooting conditions quickly and problem-solve creatively in dynamic environments.
  • High proficiency invideo editing and motion graphics, with working knowledge of live streaming and multi-platform video delivery.
  • Solid photography skills, including experience with interchangeable-lens cameras, studio and location lighting, and professional audio equipment.
  • Working knowledge of graphic design principles and the ability to produce simple graphics for video, web and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently, balance competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work on deadline.



Software & Technical Proficiency



  • Strong proficiency withAdobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom/Lightroom Classic, and related tools.
  • Familiarity with After Effects or other motion-graphics software strongly preferred.
  • Experience with complementary tools such as Illustrator, InDesign, Audition, or comparable alternatives (e.g., Final Cut Pro, Motion, Logic, Audacity, Canva) is a plus.
