Job Summary

The Electrician is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations across the pellet mill facility. This includes troubleshooting and maintaining motors, wiring, control systems, lighting, and electrical panels. The role ensures the plant operates safely and efficiently while complying with all electrical codes and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting


Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and control panels.
- Diagnose electrical faults in motors, drives, PLCs, and production equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce downtime.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Use testing equipment such as multimeters and megohmmeters to ensure proper operation.


Safety & Compliance


Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and plant safety regulations in all electrical work.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance tasks.
- Identify electrical hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Document all maintenance and repair work performed.


Production & Support


- Respond quickly to electrical issues affecting production and restore operation safely.
- Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Support installation and startup of new equipment and control systems.
- Maintain lighting, power distribution, and facility electrical systems as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

Requires a level of knowledge normally gained with a high school diploma or equivalent.


3+ years of industrial electrical experience required, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.


Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and applicable safety practices for industrial electrical systems.


Experience with 480V systems, 3-phase motors, VFDs, and control circuits.


Must be able to work rotating shifts and respond to emergency calls as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for electrical systems.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, PLC logic, and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork across departments.
- Self-directed with a focus on safety, accuracy, and reliability.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in variable conditions.

Up to 50 pounds of weight lifting/force exertion required

Must be able to work in dusty, hot, cold, and loud industrial environments.


Must be able to climb ladders, work at heights above 6 feet, and enter confined spaces using proper PPE.


Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders throughout the shift.
Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds independently.
Must be able to work at heights greater than 6 feet and in confined spaces using appropriate safety equipment.
Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments requiring manual dexterity.
Must be able to visually inspect equipment and read manuals, gauges, and schematics.
Must be able to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and industrial odors.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
