The Municipal Market Rep. is responsible for supporting and strengthening Penn Waste's relationships with municipalities, managing key administrative and reporting functions, and contributing to the development, retention, and growth of municipal contracts. This role combines administrative excellence, community representation, contract coordination, and strategic support for municipal sales and bid activity. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Municipal Relations & Community Engagement

  • Represent Penn Waste at municipal meetings, community events, and industry functions.
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with municipal officials and publicsector partners.
  • Monitor municipal contract expiration dates and support proactive retention strategies.
  • Track competitive activity and research upcoming municipal bids.

Contract & Bid Support

  • Assist with preparation of documentation for municipal trash and recycling bids.
  • Support cost analysis, proposal development, bid responses, and public presentations.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth implementation of new municipal contracts.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on revenue, margins, bid activity, pricing, and contract performance.

Administrative & Reporting Duties

  • Perform general office and administrative functions, including filing, data entry, and calendar management.
  • Maintain municipal reports, databases, and internal tracking tools.
  • Handle confidential company information with discretion.
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates to leadership on municipal activity and performance.

Marketing, Communications & Digital Management

  • Manage company website updates, and social media activity related to municipal communications.
  • Support coordination of municipal outreach events and visibility initiatives.

Customer Service & Issue Resolution

  • Assist with municipal service issues and coordinate solutions with operations and customer service teams.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and contract compliance across municipal accounts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong relationshipbuilding and communication skills, including public speaking.
  • High energy, professional demeanor, and ability to represent the company in public settings.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Organized, efficient work habits with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience & Education Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Prior experience in municipal relations, sales, marketing, or publicsector business development preferred.
  • Experience in the waste industry or exposure to municipal purchasing/bid processes is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
